A cross-generational comparison of smartphone addiction among Gen X and Gen Y smartphone users in Malaysia

This study reported the prevalence of smartphone addiction among Gen X and Y in Sarawak, Malaysia. compared two generations, Y, on addictive behaviour. It is important to understand their smartphones. Two hundred thirty-six participants were recruited using a Facebook advertisement, consisting 122 males 114 females aged 16 55. The scale-malay (SAS-M) was used assess addiction. data analysed IBM SPSS. result shows that more addicted than for all components SAS-M, but there no significant difference between female male users both generations usage. In addition, cyberspace-oriented relationship Y. Furthermore, had lost control use smartphones X, which reflects overuse primacy lead daily life disturbances.
